I am passionate about bringing change to the mental health field. While at my lowest point, all I had wanted was for someone to say, “I know, I’ve been there,” and not be recited paragraphs from textbooks by medical professionals. Knowledge is power, and I would like to share my own experiences as a means of helping others facing similar difficulties.

Why do I blog?
I am passionate about bringing change to the mental health field. While at my lowest point, all I had wanted was for someone to say, “I know, I’ve been there,” and not be recited paragraphs from textbooks by medical professionals. Knowledge is power, and I would like to share my own experiences as a means of helping others facing similar difficulties.

What Stigma Means to Me:
To me, stigma defines pain, blame, ignorance, and a lack of knowledge.

The Way I Find Wellness:
By reading and writing, spending time with my dog, Max, attending regular therapy sessions, and drinking Costa coffee far too often.

If I Had a Magic Wand:
If refused the option to eradicate pain and suffering permanently, I would instead ensure that each and every sufferer of mental illness had access to the help and support that they require. This would also involve improving mental health funding.

My Pick-Me-Up Song:
“Step by Step” by Whitney Houston

Favorite (Mental Health) Book:
My go – to book will always be Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway, or anything by Susan Jeffers. My copies each contain post it notes for easy reference.

If I were a superhero, I would be / have powers to…
… I would be invisible. At least that way the villain would never see me coming!

Words to Live By:
“When it rains, look for rainbows. When it’s dark, look for stars.”
