Angela’s Story

My name is Angela...and I am a suicide survivor. Unfortunately, my sister was a victim of suicide at the age of 19...she was (and still is) my best friend, by rock, and my strength. The day that my sister took her life, I felt as if she had taken mine too. Today I am taking a step to get it back, and to keep her memory alive by helping others.

For a long time I felt sooo alone, I had no idea that mental illness was so prevalent, but I want everyone to know that its real, and its ok. We need to break down the judgements, the stigma around mental illness, and educate ourselves so that we can save the lives of the people we love. I lost my voice all those years ago when my sister took her life...but I'm realizing the experiences I went through with my sister are just the beginning of a gift I can share to help others.
