Working to end the stigma and discrimination of mental illness.

Letha’s Story

I am 30 years old and I am a wife, a mother, a sister, and a daughter. I go to work every day and in the evenings I am responsible for fundraisers, bake sales, soccer games and band practices. I raise money for cancer, diabetes and the high school band.  I am also diagnosed with Bipolar I, Schizoaffective Disorder, and Anxiety Disorder.  I take as much medicine for these things as the people in the groups I fundraise for. I have more doctors appointments than I can keep up with.  And still, if you asked me what I am, I would tell you I am a Wife, a Mother, a Sister, and a Daughter with all the responsibilities that come with that. I am not defined by an illness I can not control. I am not crazy, I am strong. I am not sick, I am in charge. And I know that one day I will not be charaterized or described by a condition I did not choose, I am and will be a Survivor.
