Working to end the stigma and discrimination of mental illness.

Miranda’s Story

Many of us dreamed of the day we would meet "the one". We dreamed of all the fun times we would have and how everything would be perfect. Well, life isn't perfect. I met "the one" in high school, a wonderful, kind, and genuine man. He had also been living with clinical depression, he used to cut himself, and had almost taken his life twice. After we met, he did cut a few more times, and still had severe periods of depression. This could be hard to deal with, and took all my energy sometimes. But I loved him so I stood by him, and listened to him, and assured him over and over that he wasn't worthless. To this day he still gets really depressed, but I wouldn't trade him for the world. As hard as it is for me to see him go through it, it's harder for him, and I would never leave him. People with depression aren't unlovable, they aren't impossible to live with...He's the perfect man for me...So if you're in a similar situation, don't give
up. If you have a disorder, don't think people don't love you, because they do. You deserve it.
